Meh… Oh, wait, strike that. Awesome. I mean, seriously, this is such a cool idea. Just out of curiosity, what gets sent to the recipient? Just an overlay (or the HTML/JS to recreate it), or is it a screenshot? At any rate, I’m really impressed with the cleverness of the feature, as well as the turnaround to create something like this. A couple of years ago, this would have been science fiction.

Safari 5 is already available (well, at least for me it is!), check Software Update under the Apple menu.

So I had this idea like two years ago. However, Panic has done a much better job at building than I would have. ;-)

This really looks great! I think one reason the markup is captured as a screenshot is because depending on plugins, zoom level, location, etc. it may appear differently on the client’s computer. That’s the way I see it at least. So when can we download it? :)

Wow, this looks awesome. Now the challenge that remains is getting those at work who review our website updates to use Safari 5, rather than IE (we’re a Windows company) and stop wasting paper! :-)
Shame we have to wait ’til end of summer for the Extensions Site to be available.

How about a way for the web developer to give a default email? That would make it a lot more streamlined.

Here’s an idea, save the notes in local storage to keep for ourselves and have the ability to sync when there’s an internet connection. For local development, allow relative paths to remap to other domains or other development machines. :)

I’m a webmaster working remotely for a company in another state. The company runs an all mac platform and while we vid chat several times a day, this tool would be AWESOME for those quick fixes the guys at corporate come up with. Release this and we’ll implement it right now. I’m waiting!

Fantastic. This seems to be the Apple (and Apple developer) way. Take an idea that people have been toying with for a little while (extensions) and turn it into an OMFG THAT IS AWESOME thing. There’s just something inspirational about the Mac platform. Well done.

Thank goodness Apple didn’t buy Panic to get Audion. After all, C&G disappeared after it happenned to them and while I don’t miss Conflict Catcher, et al, I definitely don’t want to live in a world without Panicware! Keep being amazing, guys!

I have no technical competence at all — pure user. Will CodaNotes work with Safari reproductions of pdf pages — like, say, US Supreme Court opinions? With newspaper webpages? Etc. If so, your extension may be hugely useful for people like me, who aren’t interested in web page design but are interested in routinely marking up pages and sending notes to each other about what we read.

This is so outstanding I’m going to start highly recommending my clients to use Safari 5 and Coda Notes at least for the duration of the project. It’s an outstanding way for them to tell you exactly what they want changed and where.

Nice implementation. This would be far more convenient than Skitch. A “Copy URL” button possibly next to the “Send Notes” button would be super handy.

This is an awesome tool for developers, and one for an audience that you most likely haven’t thought of…My mom. (Really ALL our moms) Understanding that everyone reading this is a standards compliant, fully optimized, and HTML5-enabled über-whiz…I see another really useful tool here for helping my 60+ mom or sister find EXACTLY what I want her to click on, and look at on a given web site. There’s a whole world of people out there who are less comfortable surfing or clicking (or even finding their way around an over-designed site) b/c of the “scary story they saw on 60 minutes about phishing scams.” This would offer them comfort, and me less time explaining which “Small icon in the top right corner” they should look at. FWIW

Lots of Safari Extensions coming out. But Coda Notes seems more elaborate and useful than others to me. I’m guessing clients will love it too. Can’t wait for it to be available.

I can’t use this as a developer because screenshots get routed through Panic’s email servers. Can’t you just have it save the screenshot locally? And have an email option that sends the screenshot to my email client?

Sadly, it doesn’t work for me this morning (Safari 5.0.1). I can see the notes bar but can’t draw. I’m very excited to use it though and have been watching for it since the WWDC demo.

This is freaking great. Doesn’t seem to work on all sites, but it works on the ones i’m responsible for. I’ve already annotated several pages and sent the screenshots to developers. Awesome stuf.

It’s possible to permanently fix the Coda Notes bar?

Is it possible in the Safari Extensions API to mess with the cursor icon? (Heh.) Kind of hard to draw with a mouse when the cursor icon is an I-beam.

A crosshairs icon would be awesome when in draw mode. It would also give another context indicator (besides the active Coda Notes toolbar) that this isn’t Kansas anymore.

Perhaps throw an RFE at Apple for such an API addition?

Love love love the idea, but it seems to work very inconsistently. No other extensions installed, Safari 5.0.1. I can usually make it edit text, but the drawing tools not so much. Boo hoo hoo hoo!

Also, it appears that there is a vertical limit to the edit feature. I can’t edit beyond a certain number of pixels down a Web page.

this is great! love it! with the prevalence of laptops and trackpads.. and the apple magic trackpad, it would be great to be able to “write/draw” without having to click. then i could just use my finger on the trackpad to scribble. MUCH easier with a trackpad than having to click and scribble.. and, as you may know, writing/drawing with a mouse isn’t much easier..

this could easily be implemented by a toggle button in the coda notes menu that appears, or by using a modifier key on the keyboard.

Just wanted to find out the plans are for Coda. I use Coda a lot but would love to see support for Ruby/Rails with hints/code completion. TextMate has stalled on producing new product so it might be an opportunity.

Found it to be a good tool. Is it possible to write extensions for it? I think it would be a nice to have integration with something like google wave in a box (http://www.waveprotocol.org/), or other social media for that matter.

OK. Correction to prior post. It works, but if you are using Single Processor pages, it does not. You must use a Multiple Processor page. (This is for those folks using the Debug menu and are using the Single Processor page to avoid Safari’s bizarre “sudden tab reload” bug)

Email styles are a bit off though in Apple Mail.

The information this can be genuinely and also beneficial immediately after i do research. You merely attached your hair a guarenteed audience.

I use Safari 6 and when I click send button nothing happen. And I cannot use all types of notes (pen, hightlight, text and notes) on the same page. If I use pen, text doens’t work, if I use hightlight first, pen after that doesn’t work. Maybe I do something wrong?
